Are you ready to share YourVoice?

Welcome to YourVoice

Building on the success of our first Photovoice project, which reached the North Carolina General Assembly and traveled across the state as a public exhibit, we are excited to introduce the next phase of this work. YourVoice invites transition-age youth ages 16 to 25 in Iredell County to share their lived experiences through creative expression. This project centers on relational community engagement by inviting you to create art that reflects what matters to you about mental health. Using multimedia storytelling, YourVoice aims to reduce stigma, encourage support-seeking, promote community healing, and guide local leaders toward more responsive mental health practices.

How YourVoice Works

Participation is structured across a few flexible steps. You are given time, incentives, and the creative freedom to respond to a central question about mental health. The choice of medium is entirely yours, including photography, drawing, writing, audio, video, collage, maps, or physical objects, with facilitators available to support your vision without taking over. Then you will join a Show and Tell session to share what you made and discuss what it means to you with peers, forming the core of our shared learning experience. You retain authority over your work throughout the project. You decide what happens with your creations, ensuring you always keep the final say in how your story is understood and shared.

Incentives and Recognition

To honor your time, expertise, and creative contributions, financial compensation is provided at each major project milestone alongside additional incentives. With your approval, your final creative work will be professionally printed and featured as part of a traveling community exhibit to amplify youth voices across Iredell County and beyond.
